This is our first year with the Elf on the Shelf. This weekend we got out our book, and before reading it, I opened up the Elf and let Cassidy play with it all day with her Barbies.
At night, the Elf was happily perched on the window sill.
Around 5am the next morning, Cassidy comes crying into our bedroom. The Elf never moved last night! (Opps!) In the story, I guess there's a part that if you touch the Elf, his magic is gone. She's absolutely certain that because I let her play with it, his magic is gone and he won't go visit the North Pole and talk to Santa.
After many made up excuses as to why this might've happened, and reassurances that I'm SURE the Elf will move tonight, we were able to pacify her.
Now, this has lots of potential in our family. Remember the witches legs and how Kalvin was always moving them around? Well, Cassidy was thrilled to wake up this morning and find the Elf hanging from an old stocking she used to decorate her room.
I can't wait to see where else he goes!
By the way, Mindi told us the FUNNIEST story about Luke and their Elf last night. Maybe this will inspire her to finally BLOG again so she can share the story!!!

Can the elf come visit our house? We will take a picture of it in Virginia and then send him back to you.
