Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - in that order

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

I went with Whitney's 6th grade class this year to tour a local recycling facility.

I couldn't believe how many empty milk gallons there were.

And this poor lady's job (in the blue hard hat) was to use her big stick and hit the empty gallons when they'd clog up coming out of the door.

It was amazing to learn about how much trash we produce. Certainly inspired me to try to leave a little smaller footprint on the planet.

wow. that looks really fascinating. did you learn ways that we can help reduce the amount of trash we use? i hadn't really considered how many milk jugs must exist in our landfills before. i wish there was a better way to store our milk.

    thanks for sharing!

I'm a little late on jumping on this wagon, but NO PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES!!! There were even more water bottles than milk jugs. Crazy!

So, are you going to get a cow, and milk her, whenever you need milk? We are doing our part in filling up the landfills these days. Two in diapers is never very environmentally friendly!
