A Walkabout

Kalvin and I just got home from a trip to Melbourne, Australia. PWC had asked him the week before to attend a training there, and that was a trip I didn't want to miss! We shipped the girls off to Mindi's, the dog to Grammie's (Mindi refused to take the dog), and were off for a 14 hour plane ride.

Here's what Melbourne looks like:

Thanks to these folks for the trip...

K and I hit the city hard, touring, museums, beach, and of course, delicious food...

Our swanky hotel was perfectly located and we walked to Federation Square where the Aussies were beginning to gather to watch the Australian Open on a huge outdoor tv...

But the best part for me... I got a ticket to the Open and saw the Williams sisters play doubles in the semi-finals! (Yes, that would be Serena and Venus - who went on to win the doubles, and Serena won the ladies singles!!!)

I think Mindi and I could kick their butts...

Melbourne is known as the cultural city of Australia, as is demonstrated by this outstanding sculpture of sheep going in or out of trap doors on the ground.

You can check out Mindi's blog to see nice pictures of the girls while we were gone.

WOW! What an amazing oppotunity, but what I really wanted to see a picture of was the toliets swirling backwards. They do that south of the equator don't they? :)

How lucky for you to go on holiday to Australia! I think I have Shaun almost convinced that we need to go to Sydney this Christmas. Did you have a Tim Tam Slam while there? Cute picture of you and Mindi. The Williams sisters wouldn't stand a chance against you two!

That is SO fun!!! How nice to live close enough to family to leave kids and dogs...we're having a hard enough time figuring out who we would leave our kids with (or how much it would cost) when come out to San Diego!

It looks like it was a lot of fun.
